BOB’S WEEKLY BRAIN TEASER
Challenge 01 · 27 October 2026

The mixed-up deliveries

Bob’s cracked it. Can you? Five arrivals, five people, five loads. Work out the complete delivery order using only the clues.

Good spaces. Fresh thinking.

HomePod creates modular buildings for accommodation, garden rooms, home offices and extra space. Welcome—take a look around after the challenge.

Your challenge

Bob, Sandra, Habib, Gloria and Chris each made one delivery. They arrived in five consecutive slots, numbered 1 to 5, with no ties. Each brought a different load: doors, windows, flooring, roofing or boards. Every person and load appears exactly once.

“Immediately after” means the next numbered slot. No building knowledge is needed.

  1. Bob arrived immediately after Habib.
  2. Sandra arrived before Chris.
  3. Gloria arrived neither first nor last.
  4. The windows arrived exactly three delivery slots after the doors.
  5. Gloria brought the flooring.
  6. The roofing arrived immediately after Sandra.
  7. The boards arrived before Chris.
  8. Habib did not bring the windows.
  9. Chris did not bring the flooring.
  10. Bob did not bring the roofing.
  11. The doors arrived first.

Need a hint?

Doors are in slot 1, so windows must be in slot 4. Now consider the roofing slot: it must immediately follow Sandra. Try each possible position and test it against the other clues.

Doors must be first and windows fourth. Roofing cannot be first or fourth, leaving slots 2, 3 or 5.

If roofing were second, Sandra would be first. Habib and Bob would then have to occupy 2–3 or 3–4 (Habib cannot be fourth). Either arrangement leaves Gloria only the final slot, which is forbidden.

If roofing were third, Sandra would be second. The adjacent Habib–Bob pair cannot occupy 1–2 or 2–3 because Sandra is second. In 3–4 it leaves Gloria only slot 1 or 5, both forbidden. In 4–5 it puts Habib in the windows slot, also forbidden. So this option also fails.

Roofing is therefore fifth, Sandra fourth and Chris fifth. Gloria must be second or third; only Habib first and Bob second leave her a valid slot, third. Gloria brings flooring; the remaining second-slot load is boards. All eleven clues hold.

One solution: all 14,400 possible person/load arrangements were checked.
